RIPON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's track and field team took home a trio of second-place finishes on Friday at the Red Hawk Opener.
Claire Schrier raced to second in the 800 in 2:27.09, and teammate Natalie LaMonto took sixth in 2:34.87. Lawrence's 4x400 relay team grabbed second in 4:23.06. Lawrence's other top finisher in the running events was Mikaela Hintz, who was sixth in the 200 in 28.59 seconds.
In the field events, Emily Hoeft and Sara Klemme both claimed fourth-place finishes. Hoeft was fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.16 meters, and Klemme was fourth in the shot put with a distance of 10.69 meters. Tobin Carlson grabbed sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 11.83 meters.
On the men's side, Lawrence star Josh Janusiak won the 3,000 and turned in one of the top times in the nation.
Janusiak raced to victory in the 3,000 in 8:44.16 to win by more than 23 seconds over second-place finisher Connor Hackett of UW-Whitewater. Lawrence's Billy Daniels ran to sixth place in 9:21.63.
Janusiak's time currently ranks 23rd in all of NCAA Division III.
The other top finisher on the men's side was Julian Garcia, who was sixth in the 800 in 2:12.11.
