APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team pulled away in the final two sets Wednesday and posted a 3-1 non-conference victory over Marian University at Alexander Gymnasium.

Lawrence defeated Marian 25-16, 24-26, 25-16, 25-14.

Arianna Neumeyer led Lawrence (3-2) with 19 kills and added 11 digs and five blocks. Rachael Wuensch and Arianna Cohen added six kills apiece for the Vikings.

Sydney Nelson had a team-high 18 assists, and Lauren Ray added 17 assists and seven aces for Lawrence. Cyra Bammer had a match-high 14 digs for Lawrence.

Cheyenne Henson led Marian (1-1) with 13 kills, and Amber Baker had 20 assists.

Lawrence powered to a .364 hitting percentage to win the opening set, and the Sabres hung on to take the second set after blowing a late five-point lead.

The Vikings jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the third set, and Marian managed to close the advantage to 15-10. Lawrence then scored five of the next six points to seal the third set.

Lawrence did the same in the fourth set when it pulled out to a 10-2 edge. The Sabres closed the lead to 12-7, but Lawrence went on a 5-1 run to grab a 17-8 lead. Marian never got closer than seven points after that.

Lawrence returns to action Friday and Saturday when it plays four matches at the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic.
