St. Norbert tops Vikings in straight sets

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 Midwest Conference decision to St. Norbert College on Wednesday night at Alexander Gymnasium.

St. Norbert defeated the Vikings 26-24, 25-15, 27-25 as the Green Knights rallied to win the first and third sets.

Arianna Neumeyer paced the Vikings (5-12, 0-1 MWC) with 11 kills, 13 digs and three blocks. Rachael Wuensch added 10 kills for the Vikings, and Alyssa Peterson chipped in with seven. 

Lauren Ray led Lawrence with 22 assists, and Sydney Nelson added 14. Cyra Bammer had 17 digs for Lawrence, and Katie Kumbalek added 10.

The match turned late in the opening set. Lawrence led 22-17, but St. Norbert rallied to take a 24-23 lead. Lawrence tied it at 24-24, but the Green Knights got the next two points to close out the opening set.

After the Green Knights (4-12, 1-0) won the second set, they led 17-13 in the third. Lawrence rallied to take a 23-20 lead, but St. Norbert came back to tie it again at 24-24. St. Norbert then got a kill and took advantage of a Lawrence error to close out the match.
