APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University volleyball standout Cyra Bammer was named the Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week following a pair of road victories last weekend.
Bammer (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville), a senior defensive specialist, piled up 61 digs as the Vikings won a pair of five-set road matches against Midwest Conference opponents. This is the third time Bammer has captured the award, adding to the two she collected in the 2016 season.

Bammer followed that with a match-high 32 digs as Lawrence rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 at Knox the following day. After digging a deep hole, the Vikings won sets three and four 25-18 and then won four of the final five points to take the fifth set 15-12.
Bammer, who also picked up seven assists in each match and a pair of service aces, averaged 6.1 digs per set for the two matches.
Lawrence returns to conference action on Tuesday when the Vikings host Beloit College.
