Bucs top Lawrence in three sets

Lawrence dropped a 3-0 Midwest Conference decision at Beloit.

BELOIT, Wis. -- The Beloit College volleyball team won two tight sets to open Tuesday's Midwest Conference match and then closed out Lawrence University in a 3-0 victory at Flood Arena.

Beloit downed the Vikings 25-23, 25-23, 25-15. 

Eva Laun-Smith led Beloit with 16 kills, and Amanda Baran added 14. 

Arianna Neumeyer and Sophia Galassini had eight kills apiece to pace the Vikings, and Neumeyer added a team-high 13 digs. Tamia Cephis collected 14 assists and 11 digs for the Vikings.

The first set was tied 23-23 before Beloit got an ace and a kill to close out the set. Lawrence led 23-20 in the second set, but the Bucs rattled off five consecutive points to win the set and take a 2-0 lead. 

Beloit pulled out to a 10-5 lead in the third set and slowly pulled away from there.
