APPLETON, Wis. -- The Ripon College volleyball team won a pair of tight sets to open the match Saturday and went on to a 3-0 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University at Alexander Gymnasium.

Ripon won by the scores of 25-23, 32-30, 25-19.

Arianna Neumeyer led the Vikings with 10 kills, and she picked up 18 digs. Sophia Galassini added seven kills and four blocks, and Katie Kumbalek collected a match-high 28 digs for the Vikings. Averie Miller led Lawrence with 14 assists, and Tamia Cephus added 13.

Neither team led by more than three points in the opening set, and the the score was tied at 23-23. A Lawrence attack error and a kill from Emily Allard gave Ripon the first set.

Lawrence led by as many as four points late in the second set at 21-17, but Ripon battled back to tie the score at 24-24. The teams then traded points, and Allard's kill tied it at 30-30. A pair of Lawrence attack errors then gave Ripon the second set.

Ripon pulled out to an 18-13 lead in the third set, and Lawrence didn't get closer than three points the rest of the way.

Allard paced Ripon with 15 kills and 22 digs. Olivia Heck collected 44 assists for the Red Hawks.
