Lawrence rolled to a 3-0 win over Holy Family.

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 nonconference win over Holy Family College on Wednesday at Alexander Gymnasium.

The Vikings downed Holy Family 25-16, 25-10, 25-22.

Lawrence hit .274 as a team and got double-digit kills from a pair of players. Sophia Galassini led the Vikings with 11 kills and hit .444, and Elizabeth Liebau added 10 kills and hit .533.

Averie Miller piled up 35 assists and picked up eight digs for Lawrence, and Laurice Lavajo had a match-high 13 digs and three aces. The Vikings also picked up 11 blocks, including four by Galassini.

The Lakers hung around in the opening set, but Lawrence put them away by going on a 10-3 run to end the first set. The Vikings then hit .562 in the second set with 10 kills and just one error on 16 attempts. The Vikings blew out to a 20-5 lead in the second set before Holy Family picked up a few points late.

Lawrence led 11-3 in the third set before Holy Family rallied. The Lakers took a 16-15 lead, but Lawrence went on a 10-6 run to close out the set, helped by kills from Miller, Jordan Adamson and Galassini.

Lawrence opens Midwest Conference play on Saturday when the Vikings host Grinnell College.
