GALESBURG, Ill. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 Midwest Conference decision to Knox College on Friday at Memorial Gymnasium.

Knox topped Lawrence 22-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-19.

Sophia Galassini paced Lawrence's attack with 10 kills and five blocks. Elizabeth Liebau added nine kills, and Jordan Adamson had eight for the Vikings. 

Averie Miller picked up 33 assists, three kills and six digs for the Vikings. Laurice Lavajo led Lawrence with 22 digs, and Alyssa Sorensen added 15.

The Vikings went on an 9-2 run take control of the first set. Lawrence trailed 14-12 before surging ahead, and Miller's kill capped the outburst to give the Vikings a 21-16 advantage. Knox didn't get closer than three points after that.

Lawrence led by as many as six points early in the second set before Knox rallied. Lawrence led 19-18 before Knox closed out the second set on a 7-1 run.

The third set was another tight one, and Lawrence led 20-19 before Knox finished the set on a 6-2 run. Knox led by as many as five points in the fourth set, and the Vikings couldn't get closer than four points down the stretch.
