Lawrence shut out by Muskies

DE PERE, Wis. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team lost 3-0 to Lakeland University on Saturday at the St. Norbert Quad.

The Muskies defeated Lawrence 25-23, 25-9, 25-22.

Elizabeth Liebau picked up a team-high six kills for the Vikings, and Caitlin Chambers and Liza Stalcup had five kills apiece. Averie Miller collected 21 assists, and Laurice Lavajo had a match-high 12 digs.

Lawrence led 21-20 in the opening set, but kills by Neenah Primas, Emily Bringer and Megan Goeser rallied the Muskies to take the first set. The Muskies picked up an easy victory in the second set, but they had hold off the Vikings in the third set. Lawrence trailed 20-13 before going on a 7-1 run. Kills by Chambers, Emily Hoeft and Miller helped the Vikings trim the lead to 21-20 before the Muskies closed out the set and match.
