MEQUON, Wis. -- Lawrence University cross country star Josh Janusiak ran away to the individual title Saturday at the Ken Weidt Classic at Concordia University of Wisconsin.
Janusiak covered the 8,000-meter course in 25:53.0 to easily finish first. MSOE's Trey Horbinski was second in 27:35.4.
The Lawrence men, running without standout Joe Kortenhof, finished sixth in the team standings with 148 points. St. Norbert College won the team title with 55 points.
Ben Schaefer took 25th for the Vikings in 29:44.5, and rounding out the scoring for Lawrence were Teddy Kortenhof (32nd, 30:00.9), Cullen Allard (40th, 30:38.5) and Ty Heuer (50th, 31:52.4).
Hannah Kinzer raced to third place to pace the Lawrence women, who finished fifth in the team standings with 112 points. St. Norbert took the team title with 34.
Kinzer finished ahead of all the St. Norbert runners with a time of 23:48.6 on the 6,000-meter course.
The rest of the scorers for the Vikings were tightly bunched as just seven places separated four Lawrence runners. Erin Schrobilgen was 23rd in 25:54.7, Christina Sedall was 27th in 26:14.5, Margaret Huck was 29th in 26:22.6 and Molly Doruska was 30th in 26:26.2.
