Hawksford takes fifth to pace Vikings at Titan Fall Classic

WINNECONNE, Wis. -- Lawrence University rookie Leah Hawksford grabbed fifth place Friday to lead the Vikings to a second-place finish at the Titan Fall Classic.

Hawksford covered the 6,000-meter course at Lake Breeze Golf Course in 24:28.27 to pace Lawrence's finishers. Molly Doruska took seventh for the Vikings in 24:33.47, and Alex Chand grabbed 10th place in 25:13.11.

Alyssa Kuss took 14th in 26:36.55 and Natalie LaMonto was 17th in 27:08.64 to round out the scoring for Lawrence.

Lawrence took second in the team standings with 53 points, and UW-Oshkosh took the team title with 18. On the men's side, the Vikings were third with 65 points, and Oshkosh posted a perfect score of 15.

Billy Daniels and Cullen Allard paced the Vikings by finishing ninth and 10th, respectively. Daniels covered the 8,000-meter course in 27:48.75, and Allard came in at 27:58.46.

Ben Schaefer took 13th in 28:25.25, Alec Timpe was 16th in 28:40.75 and Sam Marrese-Wheeler completed the scoring by finishing 17th in 28:47.30.

Lawrence competed without its top two runners, All-Midwest Conference stars Josh Janusiak and Joe Kortenhof.
