Kortenhof, Hawksford lead Lawrence at Titan Challenge

WINNECONNE, Wis. -- Lawrence University cross country standout Joe Kortenhof grabbed second place to lead the men, and Leah Hawksford was 14th for the women on Friday at the Titan Fall Challenge.

Kortenhof covered the 8,000-meter course at Lake Breeze Golf Course in 26:00.0 and finished 15 seconds behind the winner, UW-Whitewater's David Fassbender. Led by Kortenhof, Lawrence finished fourth with 106 points. UW-Stevens Point won the team title with 32.

Rookie Teslin Stecher was next for the Vikings as he finished 22nd in 28:24.5. Cullen Allard was 25th in 28:32.4, and rookie Itai Bojdak-Yates was 26th in 28:39.5. Sam Marrese-Wheeler completed the scoring for the Vikings by finishing 31st in 29:09.9.

Hawksford led Lawrence's contingent as she completed the 6,000-meter course in 25:16.1 to take 14th. Natalie LaMonto was Lawrence's second runner as she took 23rd in 26:46.7. Madeline Taylor finished 31st in 30:19.3, Amanda Endicott was 32nd in 32:33.2 and Alex Chand was 33rd in 33:04.7 to finish the scoring for Lawrence.

The Vikings were fifth with 133 points, and UW-Stevens Point won the title with 28.
