Kyle Gierman was a key part of Lawrence’s defense as the Vikings allowed only three goals in two games as they recorded a sweep of Finlandia. The rookie defenseman from Shelby Township, Mich., also collected four points as he had two assists in each victory. In Thursday’s 4-1 victory over the Lions, Gierman led the defense that allowed just four shots on goal over the final 20 minutes. He then assisted on both goals in the final 3:52 to seal the victory. Gierman paced the defense that allowed only 21 shots in Lawrence’s 5-2 victory on Saturday.
