Athletic Training

  Sports Medicine Service

All Lawrence University student-athletes have access to certified athletic trainers in the athletic training room, located on the ground level of Alexander Gymnasium. The athletic training room is staffed throughout the academic year to provide injury evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and preventative care. This structure allows student-athletes to receive timely, high-quality care at no cost, without leaving campus or missing valuable academic time.

Athletic trainers are present for practices and competitions to ensure prompt care. When injuries or medical conditions require additional expertise, Lawrence University Sports Medicine has an established network of medical specialists to ensure appropriate and efficient referrals.

    Our Mission

The mission of the Lawrence University Sports Medicine team is to provide high-quality, comprehensive medical care to student-athletes through a collaborative approach. There is a strong emphasis on injury prevention through education, conditioning strategies, and evidence-based preventative techniques, as well as maintaining a safe competitive environment.

Injuries sustained during athletic participation are managed and rehabilitated using best-practice standards to promote long-term health and performance. We are committed to a safe return to academics, athletics and daily activity.

    Certified Athletic Trainers

A certified athletic trainer is a highly trained healthcare professional who specializes in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses in physically active individuals. Athletic trainers provide care in both emergency and non-emergency situations.

All athletic trainers at Lawrence University are:

  • Nationally certified

  • Licensed by the State of Wisconsin

  • Required to complete ongoing continuing education annually to maintain credentials and stay current with best practices in sports medicine and healthcare
