WHAT IS SAAC?

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a group of Lawrence University student-athletes who represent their teams and provide insight into the student-athlete experience. SAAC serves as a bridge between student-athletes, Lawrence Athletics, and university administration, giving student-athletes a voice in matters that affect their academic, athletic, and campus experiences. The committee also provides input on NCAA rules, regulations, and policies while promoting student-athlete engagement, leadership, community involvement, and school spirit. Through collaboration and advocacy, SAAC works to strengthen the Lawrence Athletics community and enhance the overall student-athlete experience at Lawrence University.

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF SAAC?

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is composed of one student-athlete representative from each Lawrence University varsity athletic team. SAAC representatives are nominated by their respective teams and serve as a representative for their teammates within the committee.

SAAC representatives meet bi-weekly, with five meetings held each academic term. Representatives bring information, feedback, and concerns from their respective teams to each meeting, helping facilitate communication and collaboration across Lawrence Athletics.

SAAC is led by two Co-Presidents who oversee the committee and help guide its initiatives throughout the academic year. The committee also includes three Chair positions, each responsible for a specific area of SAAC programming and engagement:

Gameday Events Chair: Leads initiatives and events designed to increase student-athlete and campus engagement at Lawrence athletic events.

Community Relations Chair: Coordinates community service, outreach, and engagement opportunities for Lawrence student-athletes.

Social Media Chair: Manages SAAC's social media presence and promotes student-athlete events, initiatives, and accomplishments.

EVENTS

BluCrew Awards

The BluCrew Awards are an annual ESPY style award show that celebrates the athletic and academic achievements of Lawrence student-athletes. The award show is led by SAAC members and is largely organized by the BluCrew Committee.

Giving Challenge

The Giving Challenge is a yearly community service competition between institutions in the Midwest Conference. Student-athletes are tasked with collecting cans and monetary donations that will be given to a previously determined food pantry or shelter.
