Will Phillips broke the oldest Lawrence swim record on the books when he topped the 1997 mark in the 100-yard freestyle at the Pioneer Classic. The first-year from Shorewood, Wis., finished second in the event with a time of 47.24 seconds, topping Brian Murphy's mark of 47.78.
