Nolan Mahaffey came up big at the Superior Showdown to help the Vikings take third place in the tournament. In the third-place game, Mahaffey stopped 28 shots against Dubuque as the game finished 1-1 after overtime. The sophomore goaltender from Grove City, Pa., then stopped all three attempts in the shootout, which Lawrence won 1-0. He also made 27 saves against UW-Superior in the tournament opener.
