ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Lawrence University women's hockey team simply refused to go away on Saturday.
The Vikings battled No. 5 Adrian College and one goal was all that separated the two teams until the Bulldogs scored three times in the final 88 seconds to post a 4-0 victory at Arrington Ice Arena. The victory allowed the Bulldogs to win the Northern College Hockey Association quarterfinal series in the Slaats Cup playoffs.
Lawrence finishes its season with a 4-22-1 mark, but the Vikings gave the highly-ranked Bulldogs all they wanted over the two-game series as both games were in doubt late.Â
The only goal through the first 57 minutes of the game came at the 13:02 mark of the second period by Adrian's Annika Hanson.Â
The score was still 1-0 when Adrian's Maya Roy scored on the power play with 1:28 remaining. Roy then added an empty-net goal with 46 seconds left for a 3-0 lead, and Adrian tacked on another goal 10 seconds later for the final margin.
 Â
Sarah Dobrzynski was outstanding in net again for the Vikings as she stopped 43 shots. Michaela O'Brien made 12 saves to get the shutout for Adrian (25-2-0).
