What being a Viking means to me:
Being a Viking to me means I'm part of a team … a lifelong member of a team. It means I will always have a support system to better myself personally and professionally. My inner circle of close friends include a few Vikings (i.e., roommates and teammates). Being a Viking means I have a responsibility to my team. It means I have to contribute in order to ensure Lawrence remains great and continues to strive for greater heights. My Lawrence team has been instrumental in my professional growth. Big shout-out to Lawrence alums, Chuck Merry, Class of 1957, and Hugh McLean, Class of 1980. Both alums worked with me and mentored me in my efforts to transition from a student-athlete to a professional. Hugh McLean was directly responsible for getting my professional career started in Chicago. Both Vikings set good examples for me to follow. Being a Viking also means I have a lifetime of fond memories … memories of my track teammates at Alexander Gym during grueling practices, bus rides to track meets, and making "JUICE" on the track. Memories of debates in Freshman Studies class, group research projects with fellow Econ majors, Hiett 110 (05-06), lectures of Prof. Podair, and obnoxious discussions over meals in Downer with teammates.
