Nevada, a native of Washington, D.C., earned her Bachelor of Science from George Mason University in 2013 and her Master of Science from the University of South Florida in 2016. With more than a decade of experience in high school athletics, Division II and III collegiate programs, and clinical settings, she offers a well-rounded and compassionate approach to athletic training.

Her professional passions include promoting mental wellness among athletes and athletic trainers, soft-tissue mobilization, injury rehabilitation, and mentoring the next generation of athletic training students. Nevada is dedicated to fostering supportive environments where athletes can thrive both physically and mentally.
Outside of work, she enjoys road cycling, exploring new restaurants, traveling, visiting family in Madrid, and spending time with friends.

Marc Viergutz joined the Lawrence University Athletic Training staff in March 2022.  A native of Madison, Wis, Viergutz grew up in Highlands Ranch, Colo. 

Viergutz played right field and pitched for his prep team at Mountain Vista High School. Rehabbing from a shoulder injury his junior year introduced Viergutz to sports medicine and helped him make that his career choice. Prior to joining the Lawrence staff, Viertuz was a member of the athletic training staff at Fort Lewis College, a NCAA Division II institution.

Viergutz earned his bachelor of science degree in athletic training from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz. in 2016. Through his clinical rotations Viergutz had the opportunity to work with several of the Division 6A high schools in the Phoenix area and the baseball team at Grand Canyon University, a NCAA Division I program. Viergutz also completed an office clinical rotation with the Grand Canyon University's team orthopedic physician.
 
Also during his time at Grand Canyon, in cooperation with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Brewers sports medicine staff, Viergutz served as an undergraduate research assistant. He assisted with motion analysis/biomechanical projects involving minor league pitchers and position players dealing with "long-toss" and "hitting" studies at the Milwaukee Brewers Maryvale, Ariz., training facility.

Viergutz obtained his master's degree in advanced athletic training with an emphasis in youth sports injuries from the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida in 2019. While working toward his master's degree Viergutz interned with the Cincinnati Reds sports medicine staff assigned to the Cincinnati Reds Arizona League team.
 
In his free time, Viergutz enjoys playing golf and video games. An avid Wisconsin sports fan, Viergutz enjoys spending time relaxing at his family's property near Minocqua, Wis.

Tessa Gorchesky

Tessa  joined Advanced in October 2024. Born and raised in Cody, Wyoming,  she earned a bachelor's degree in Health and Human Performance and a master's degree in Athletic Training from the University of Montana. Graduating during the height of COVID, She returned to Cody and became a nationally registered Advanced EMT and than later transitioned back to college atheltics when she began working at a small NAIA college in Montana before moving into the NCAA setting here at Lawrence. Tessa's professional interests include preventative care, holistic approaches, emergency medicine, and mental health.

Outside of work, Tessa enjoys hiking, exploring nature, traveling, spending time at both the beach and in the mountains, binge-watching Netflix, karaoke, baking and cooking, practicing yoga, and learning new things.

Brenden Canterbury

Brenden joined the Lawrence University Athletic Training staff in August 2025. Brenden is a native of Waupaca, WI. He studied at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science and his Master's in Athletic Training. During his Master's clinical rotation, he spent time at the High school and collegiate levels with a variety of sports in each setting. He played football for two years at UWSP and played baseball for 5 years.

Outside of work Brenden enjoys spending his time playing all sports, reading, and playing video games.

Matty Burst

Matty joined the Lawrence University Athletic Training staff in September 2025. A Green Bay, WI native, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from UW–Green Bay and her Master's in Athletic Training from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. Before coming to Lawrence, Matty served as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Dubuque in Iowa, where she primarily worked with volleyball, women's hockey, and track and field. She has also gained experience at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Matty's professional interests include developing individualized rehabilitation programs, soft tissue therapy, and promoting brain health awareness.
Outside of work, Matty enjoys spending time with her husband, Kasey, and daughter, River. She also loves hiking, working out, and quilting


Dr. Aaron Douglas

Team Physician

Aaron Douglas started working with Lawrence University athletics with Dr. Charles McKee '68 a few years ago. With the retirement of Dr. McKee in Spring 2016, Dr. Douglas has taken over the role as team physician. Douglas is also a university physician at Lawrence. 

Outside of the office, Dr. Douglas spends his time with his wife and young family, along with outdoor activities such as running, cycling, cross-country skiing and camping. They also stay active with church activities.

Douglas is board certified through the American Board of Family Medicine. He received his medical degree from University of Minnesota Medical School and did his residency at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare in La Crosse, Wis.  

Douglas practices at Primary Care Associates of Appleton, and he and his family reside here in Appleton.
