Julia Dessart joined the Lawrence University coaching staff in 2022 as the team's full-time assistant coach.
Dessart joined the Lawrence staff after a successful playing career at the University of Colorado.
A decorated player on the American Collegiate Hockey Association team at Colorado, Dessart served as the team captain for the 2021-22 season. She led the Buffaloes to championships in the Western Women's Collegiate Hockey League in both 2020 and 2022.
With her playing career complete with the Buffaloes, Dessart was set to join the coaching staff at Colorado. When Kevin Dessart was named the coach at Lawrence, she followed to be the full-time assistant with the Vikings.
A native of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dessart was a standout on the Liberty High School squad. An academic all-state selection, Dessart went on to play for the Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association U19 team. A two-year team captain, Dessart helped her team to the 2017 Tier II national championship after collecting state and district titles. The 2016 Mountain State Girls Hockey League champions, the team also captured the Silver Sticks title.
Dessart, the daughter of the Lawrence head coach, is a 2023 graduate of Colorado with degrees in evolutionary and ecological biology and women and gender studies.
