Viergutz also completed an office clinical rotation with the Grand Canyon University’s team orthopedic physician.
Also during his time at Grand Canyon, in cooperation with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Brewers sports medicine staff, Viergutz served as an undergraduate research assistant. He assisted with motion analysis/biomechanical projects involving minor league pitchers and position players dealing with "long-toss" and “hitting” studies at the Milwaukee Brewers Maryvale, Ariz., training facility.
Viergutz obtained his master’s degree in advanced athletic training with an emphasis in youth sports injuries from the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida in 2019.
While working toward his master’s degree Viergutz interned with the Cincinnati Reds sports medicine staff assigned to the Cincinnati Reds Arizona League team.
