Vikings fall to Carroll in five-set heartbreaker

RIPON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team rallied from two sets down Friday, but Carroll University hung on for a five-set non-conference victory at the Red Hawks Invitational.

Carroll won 25-15, 25-23, 22-25, 23-25, 17-15.

The Vikings were down 2-0 before pulling away late to win the third set. Lawrence was nursing a one-point lead when Arianna Neumeyer's kill won the fourth set to tie the match at 2-2.

Lawrence led 15-14 in the fifth set before Carroll won three consecutive points to take the set and the match.

Neumeyer paced the Vikings with 14 kills and a match-high 25 digs. Cyra Bammer added 23 digs, and Katie Kumbalek picked up 16. 

Rachael Wuensch, Addisyn Gerber and Caitlin Chambers had six kills apiece for the Vikings. Lauren Ray picked up 20 assists, and Sydney Nelson had 15.
