Foresters pull away from Lawrence with big third period

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lake Forest College scored four times in the third period Saturday and went on to a 6-1 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory over Lawrence University at the Appleton Family Ice Center.

Charlie Izaguirre and Aaron O'Neill both scored twice to pace Lake Forest (118-0, 8-4-0 NCHA). 

Lane King picked up the lone tally for Lawrence (8-10-1, 6-6-0).

King scored just 17 seconds into the second period when his shot from the right corner deflected off a Lake Forest defenseman and into the net to tie the game at 1-1.

The game was still tied at when Lake Forest's Luke Meade picked up a five-minute major and a game misconduct. The Vikings couldn't cash in and instead allowed O'Neill's short-handed goal at the 14:28 mark, and the Foresters led 2-1.

Lake Forest then broke the game open when Connor Duncan and O'Neill both scored in the first 8:53 of the third to push the lead to 4-2. The Foresters then tacked on a pair of power-play goals to finish the scoring.

Louis-Philippe De Courcy made 33 saves to get the win for Lake Forest. Evan Cline stopped 31 shots and took the loss for the Vikings.
