Marian jumps on Vikings early en route to victory

FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- Marian University jumped on Lawrence University early Saturday with three first-period goals, and the Sabres went on to a 5-1 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory at the Blue Line Ice Center.

Five different players scored for the Sabres, who led 5-0 after two periods. Curtis Lewington had a goal and an assist, and Clay Cross picked up a pair of assists for Marian (16-6-1, 10-6-0 NCHA).

Jake Drinkard scored a third-period goal for the Vikings (10-12-1, 8-8-0).

Lawrence goaltender Evan Cline allowed the game's first three goals and finished with two saves before being replaced by Greg Procopio. Procopio finished with 24 saves. Hunter Vorva made 24 saves for the Sabres to get the win.
