Vikings tripped up by Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The second quarter proved to be the difference Saturday, as Lawrence University dropped a 68-51 Midwest Conference decision to Monmouth College at Glennie Gymnasium.

Monmouth went on an 11-0 run to take a 14-point lead early in the second quarter. The Scots held a 37-22 lead at the half and built that advantage to as many as 22 points in the second half. Lawrence never got closer than 13 points in the final 20 minutes.

Kenya Earl paced Lawrence (5-13, 2-10 MWC) with 16 points, and Shonell Benjamin added 11 points for the Vikings. Leah Reeves chipped in with eight points and a team-high six rebounds, and Erin Hill had six points and a game-high five assists for the Vikings.

Becca Gallis led Monmouth (15-4, 10-2) with 24 points, and Jordan Kintigh had a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
