Lawrence battles past Bucs

APPLETON, Wis. -- Three different players scored Saturday as the Lawrence University women's soccer team downed Beloit College 3-1 in a Midwest Conference match on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.

Samantha Tolu, Jackie Blake and Brynn Schroeder all scored for the Vikings, who improved to 9-4-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the league. It was the first collegiate tally for Schroeder.

Lawrence jumped on top in the sixth minute as Tolu took a corner kick from Blake and hammered the ball into the back of the net for a 1-0 edge at the 5:09 mark.

Blake made it 2-0 at the 39:52 mark when she got free inside the box and took a pass from Bingham. Blake found the corner of the net for her 12th goal of the season.

Beloit cut the lead in half on Kayla Erickson's goal at 41:42, and the score stayed that way until the 75th minute. Charlotte Linebarger sent a free kick into the box, and Schroeder scored at 74:36 to give the Vikings a 3-1 advantage.

Lawrence goalkeeper Sarah Yochem made seven saves to pick up the victory. Audrey Ketterer made four saves for the Bucs. Shots were even at 11 apiece.
