JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 Midwest Conference decision to Illinois College on Saturday at Sherman Gymnasium.
  The Lady Blues posted a 25-11, 25-17, 25-23 victory over Lawrence.

Sophia Galassini led Lawrence with a match-high 10 kills, and she added nine digs and a pair of service aces. Rookie
Hilirie McLaughlin added seven kills and fellow rookie
Aliana Butler-Gray had six kills.

Dana Mestey led the Vikings with a match-high 24 assists and a match-high 17 digs.Â
  In the opening set, Illinois College jumped out to a 16-8 lead and pulled away for the win. In the second set, the Lady Blues led 17-10 before the Vikings scored three consecutive points, two on kills by Butler-Gray and Galassini, to pull within four. Illinois College then scored three of the next four points, and Lawrence didn't get closer than five points the rest of the way.
  In the final set, Illinois College jumped out to a 9-1 lead, but the Vikings chipped away at the advantage. Lawrence closed to 14-13, but Illinois College scored the next five points. Lawrence put together a 7-2 run to close to within 23-21, but Illinois College picked up two kills, sandwiched around a pair of errors, to close out the match.
