APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team fell 3-1 to Beloit College in a Midwest Conference match on Saturday at Alexander Gymnasium.
  After the Vikings won the opening set 25-23, Beloit won a pair of tight sets, 28-26 and 25-23, and closed out the match with a 25-18 win in set four.
  In the opening set, the Vikings built an 18-12 lead before Beloit rallied to tie the match at 20-20. The Bucs took a 22-21 lead, but Lawrence won four of the next five points, including kills by
Liza Stalcup,
Dana Mestey and
Jordan Adamson, to close out the opening set.
  The Vikings trailed 18-14 in the second set before ripping off six consecutive points to take a 20-18 lead. The teams then traded the lead before a pair of attack errors by the Vikings allowed Beloit to grab the set 28-26. In the fourth set, the Vikings battled back to take a 19-17 lead and were holding a 23-22 edge before Beloit scored the final three points to close out the set and match.

Sophia Galassini had a big day for the Vikings as she notched 22 kills against just six errors for a .340 hitting percentage. Galassini also had a team-best 16 digs. Stalcup added 11 kills and Adamson had seven.Â
  Mestey piled up 39 assists, 15 digs and a pair of aces.
Kali Pfannerstill picked up 14 digs for the Vikings, and Adamson had nine.
