APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team dropped a 5-0 nonconference decision to Saint John's University on Saturday at the Appleton Ice Center.
The Johnnies scored one goal apiece in each of the first two periods and scored three times in the third to put the game away.
 Â
Alex Mosquera made 47 saves for the Vikings (4-6-1), and Mac Berglove stopped 21 shots to pick up the shutout for Saint John's (8-4-1).
Saint John's broke the scoreless tie with a goal with just 45 seconds left in the opening period. Mosquera made the save on the initial shot, and the puck bounced in front of Mosquera and was swatted in by Jerome Newhouse.
The Johnnies got another fluky goal off a rebound 3:52 into the second when Lewis Crosby scored to make it 2-0. Crosby scored again on a scramble in front of the net 3:00 into the third period to make it 3-0, and Crosby completed a natural hat trick with a goal at the 5:32 mark of the third.
Saint John's added an empty-net goal for the final margin.
Lawrence doesn't return to action until Jan. 1 when the Vikings travel to St. Norbert College.
