APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team fell 6-2 to No. 7 Aurora University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game on Friday at the Appleton Ice Center.
  Aurora scored three times in the second period and added two more goals in the third period to pull away.

Zack Olen and
Davis Kirkendall both scored for Lawrence (3-5-1, 1-4-0 NCHA).Â
  Aurora (9-0-0, 5-0-0) scored in the game's second minute, but Olen tied the score at 1-1 with goal off a feed from
Cory Checco and
Kyle Gierman at the 3:58 mark of the first period.
  The score stayed that way until Aurora scored on the power play just 35 seconds into the second period. The Spartans added another power-play goal at 11:28 and picked up a third goal in the period at 15:21 for a 4-1 lead.
  Aurora finished 3-for-6 on the power play, and Lawrence was 0-for-5.
  The Vikings cut into Aurora's lead just 1:11 into the third period when Kirkendall scored off a pass from Gierman to trim the margin to 4-2. The Vikings were on the penalty kill after a slashing call at the 4:09 mark and nearly picked up a short-hander, but
Charles Stewart's shot went clanging off the pipe.
  Aurora then scored at the 8:33 mark to push the lead to 5-2 and added another goal less than five minutes later to finish the scoring.

Alex Mosquera stopped 44 shots for the Vikings, and Josh Boyko made 26 saves for Aurora.
  The teams finish the series on Saturday afternoon.
