APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's soccer team generated plenty of good chances Wednesday night in its nonconference match with Carroll University, but the Vikings couldn't score in a 2-0 loss on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Carroll posted a 24-10 edge in shots, but the Vikings had multiple quality scoring opportunities. Lawrence's best scoring chance came in the second half when a shot sailed just wide at the back post with the Carroll goalkeeper out of position.
Carroll keeper Tyler Hanson finished with two saves to pick up the shutout.
Hunter Lanton stopped nine shots for the Vikings.
Carroll grabbed the lead on Josh Gonzaga's goal in the 30th minute and completed the scoring on Ethan Pequignot's goal in the 66th minute.
Lawrence returns to action Saturday when the Vikings travel to Illinois college for a Midwest Conference match.
