APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's hockey team fell behind early Friday and took a 7-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association loss to Marian University at the Appleton Ice Center.
  Lawrence got goals from
Lauren Askenazy and
Delaney Kingsland in the second and third periods, respectively.
  Marian (5-9-2, 2-3-2 NCHA) got two goals in a span of 1:33 of the opening period to seize early control. The Sabres scored at the 6:41 mark and then added another goal at 8:14. Brooke Anderson scored her second goal of the period at 17:26 to put Marian up 3-0 after one.
  Marian was up 5-0 and had a chance to seal the victory when they had a two-player advantage for 1:54 after a pair of penalties on the Vikings. Lawrence killed off the power plays, and then cut into the deficit a short time later.
  The Vikings (0-13-0, 0-6-0) had a two-player advantage after a pair of Marian penalties, but the Sabres managed to kill off the 22 seconds of the two-player advantage.Â
  Lawrence was still on the power play when Askenazy cashed in with a goal off assists from
Aislinn O'Hagan and
Sofia Alvarez at the 13:50 mark. It was the first collegiate point for Alvarez.
  Lawrence, which collected a season-high 33 shots on goal, went 1-for-6 on the power play, and Marian was 2-for-8.
  Marian wrapped up the win with two goals in the first 11:58 of the third period to push the lead to 7-1.
  Lawrence then squeezed in a goal in the final seconds as Kingsland took a pass from
Laney Martens and scored just before the final horn sounded.Â

Charlie Prior made 36 saves for the Vikings, and Kayla Kolpitcke stopped 31 shots for Marian.Â
  The teams wrap up the series on Saturday at the Blue Line Ice Center in Fond du Lac.
