MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The Lawrence University football team fell 62-6 on Saturday to Monmouth College in a Midwest Conference game at April Zorn Stadium.
  The Scots scored twice in the opening 1:36 and were off and running. Monmouth (3-1, 3-0 MWC) led 28-0 after the opening quarter and were up 55-0 at the half. Lawrence (0-4, 0-3) got its lone score early in the fourth quarter.
  Lawrence quarterback
Jack Sweeney went 18-for-28 passing for 137 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.
Jaxson Howley led the Lawrence run game wit 11 carries for 68 yards, an average of 6.2 yards per carry.

Logan Olson caught six passes for 66 yards, and
Jake Spencer grabbed a touchdown pass for the Vikings.
  Linebacker
KJ Sweeney had a team-best seven tackles, and
Carter Rivers and
Jack Yasui added six tackles apiece and both players recorded a tackle for loss.
  Monmouth scored on the opening possession of the game when Devin Lawrence had a 49-yard touchdown run. Nick Harris quickly made it 14-0 when he intercepted a pass and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown with 13:24 left in the first quarter.
  Lawrence got on the board after getting the ball back after a blocked field goal.
Sheldon Garmon blocked Cody Szelc's field goal attempt and Lawrence took over at its own 11-yard line.

Jack Sweeney hit Olson with a 22-yard pass on the first play of the drive to move the ball to the 33. A personal foul penalty gave Lawrence another first down, and Howley then ripped off a 22-yard run to move the ball to the Monmouth 27. Sweeney connected with Olson again, this time for 15 yards and a first down at the Monmouth 15. Sweeney hit Spencer on the next play for a touchdown to make the score 55-6.
  Lawrence returns to action next Saturday when the Vikings host Cornell College in the homecoming game on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
