Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Vikings edged by Grinnell

APPLETON, Wis. -- A goal off a free kick was the difference Saturday as the Lawrence University women's soccer fell 2-1 to Grinnell College in a Midwest Conference game on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
The match was tied 1-1 in the first half when Grinnell was awarded a free kick just outside the right corner of the Lawrence penalty box. Tali Berk put the ball in the upper left corner of the goal at 35:51 to give Grinnell a 2-1 advantage.
Grinnell (7-1-4, 5-0-1 MWC) took the early lead when Tori Thomas scored on a scramble in front of the net in the sixth minute.
Lawrence (7-6-0, 3-2-0) came right back and tied it at the 32:46 mark. The Vikings' Natalie Linebarger took a corner kick, and the ball was headed by a Grinnell defender. Cambrie Rickard jumped on the ball and belted it past Elinor Arneson to tie the game at 1-1.
Both teams had chances to tack on additional goals but never squad was able to convert.
Lawrence finished with six shots and Grinnell had eight.
Lawrence goalkeeper Sarah Yochem had three saves, and Arneson also had three.
