APPLETON, Wis. -- A goal off a free kick was the difference Saturday as the Lawrence University women's soccer fell 2-1 to Grinnell College in a Midwest Conference game on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.Â
  The match was tied 1-1 in the first half when Grinnell was awarded a free kick just outside the right corner of the Lawrence penalty box. Tali Berk put the ball in the upper left corner of the goal at 35:51 to give Grinnell a 2-1 advantage.
  Grinnell (7-1-4, 5-0-1 MWC) took the early lead when Tori Thomas scored on a scramble in front of the net in the sixth minute.Â
  Lawrence (7-6-0, 3-2-0) came right back and tied it at the 32:46 mark. The Vikings'
Natalie Linebarger took a corner kick, and the ball was headed by a Grinnell defender.
Cambrie Rickard jumped on the ball and belted it past Elinor Arneson to tie the game at 1-1.
  Both teams had chances to tack on additional goals but never squad was able to convert.
  Lawrence finished with six shots and Grinnell had eight.
