WINONA, Minn. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team fell 3-1 to Saint Mary's (Minn.) University on Tuesday in a nonconference game at SMU Arena.
  The Cardinals led 2-0 before Lawrence got on the board, but Saint Mary's scored late in the third period to secure the victory.
  Saint Mary's got on the board with a goal with 2:00 left in the opening period, and the score stayed 1-0 all the way through the second period. Gabe Potyk scored just 46 seconds into the third period to put the Cardinals up 2-0.

Jordan Cooper cut the deficit in half when he scored off assists from
Cory Checco and
Kyle Gierman at the 3:17 mark of the third. Nikita Sheberov pushed the margin back to 3-1 when he scored with 2:28 remaining.
  Lawrence (1-6-0) pulled goaltender
Owen Carlson for the final 41 seconds but could draw no closer. Carlson finished with 43 saves for the Vikings. Matt Sankner stopped 21 shots for the Cardinals (2-6-1).
  Saint Mary's went 0-for-2 on the power play in a game that featured just two penalties, both whistled against Lawrence. Â
