GENEVA, Ill. -- The Lawrence University women's hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision Friday to No. 12 Aurora University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Fox Valley Ice Arena.
  The Spartans broke open a close game with a goal midway through the third period and then tacked on two goals in the final 2:11 for the final margin.
  Aurora (8-1-1, 4-0-1 NCHA) broke a scoreless tie on Darci Matson's goal at the 6:43 mark of the second period. The Spartans made it 2-0 when Julianna Gallernero scored with just 1:23 remaining in the second.
  The score stayed that way until Madison Gasper scored at the 9:40 mark of the third to stretch the lead to 3-0. Gasper scored again at 17:49, and Mak Cooke added a goal at 18:45 for the final margin.

Charlie Prior stopped 56 shots for the Vikings (1-9-0, 0-3-0), and Samantha Steciak made 17 saves for Aurora.
  There were only six penalties called in the game, and Lawrence went 0-for-2 on the power play while Aurora was 0-for-1.
  The teams wrap up the series on Saturday afternoon. Â
