APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's hockey team was shut out 7-0 by Adrian College on Sunday morning in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Appleton Ice Center.
The Bulldogs pulled away with a big second period and a stifling defense.
Adrian (12-6-1, 9-1-0 NCHA) scored twice in the opening period, but the Bulldogs doubled that advantage with two goals in the five minutes of the second period. Adrian then picked up two more goals in the final 5:02 of the period to pull out to a 6-0 lead after two.
Adrian picked up a third-period tally to complete the scoring.
 Â
Maeve Tallman made the start in goal for Lawrence and stopped 22 shots over the first 15:17 of the game.
Charlie Prior came on in relief for the Vikings and made 41 saves. Sophie Goldberg made seven saves to get the shutout for Adrian.
The Lawrence penalty killers did a great job against the Bulldogs by holding them scoreless on six power-play chances.
