APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Ripon College squad on Wednesday, and the Red Hawks posted a 71-38 Midwest Conference victory at Alexander Gymnasium.
  Ripon went 13-for-19 (68.4 percent) from the floor in the opening quarter en route to building a 31-9 advantage. Ripon pushed the advantage to 45-21 at the half and never gave the Vikings a chance to get back into the game.
  Rookie forward
Sophie Morey came off the bench and led Lawrence (6-10, 2-5 MWC) with nine points and seven rebounds to go with five blocks.
Mallory Meyer and
Delaney Brooks added six points apiece for the Vikings, and Meyer grabbed five rebounds.Â
  Lawrence, down multiple players due to injury, struggled against an active Ripon defense and shot just 18.4 percent from the floor for the game.
  Skyylar Brescia led Ripon (9-6, 5-1) with 16 points and picked up six rebounds.
