Box Score   ASHLAND, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team fell 3-2 in overtime to Northland College on Friday in a nonconference game at the Bay Area Civic Center.
  In the season opener, Lawrence tied the game at 2-2 with 16 minutes remaining in the third period, but Northland scored midway through the overtime to grab the victory.
  The Vikings trailed 2-1 when
Cory Checco scored off assists from
Ethan Beaumont and
Jacob Jakusz to tie it up.Â
  The game went to overtime, but Checco was whistled for tripping just 30 seconds into the extra period. Zach Ross scored on the power play for Northland late in the man-advantage to win it.
  Lawrence took the early lead when
Cody Brekke scored his first collegiate goal midway through the opening period.Â
Kyle Gierman and
Akhmed Malsagov picked up assists as the Vikings took a 1-0 lead.
  The score stayed that way until early in the second period when Northland tied it up, and Lumberjacks took the lead late in the second on Ben Stewart's goal.Â
  Lawrence dominated the play as the Vikings fired off 50 shots against the Lumberjacks, who were limited to 29 shots. The Vikings got a bit unlucky as they hit the pipe four times during the contest, and Viktor Wennberg made 48 saves for Northland.
Owen Carlson stopped 26 shots for the Vikings.
  The teams wrap up the series on Saturday.Â
