APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team rallied in the second half Saturday, but Carthage College pulled away in the final quarter for a 72-54 nonconference victory at Alexander Gymnasium.
Mallory Meyer paced the Vikings with 13 points and added four rebounds. Charlotte Brennan added 10 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Vikings. Lydia Lueck picked up nine points for the Vikings as she hit a trio of 3-pointers. Tahlia Moe came off the bench to score seven points and hand out three assists, and Sophie Morey picked up six points and six rebounds for the Vikings.
Lawrence trailed by 13 at the half, but the Vikings bounced back in the third quarter. Lawrence was down 37-23 when Meyer jump-started a run with a three-point play. Morey and Moe followed with layups, and Meyer then drained a 3-pointer to cut the margin to 41-33 with 6:42 left in the quarter.
Maggie Culver's jumper capped the 12-4 outburst and cut the margin to 41-35.
