APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's hockey team dominated the second period Saturday and pulled away for a 3-1 nonconference victory over Northland College at the Community First Champion Center.
  Lawrence had a 19-3 edge in shots on goal in the second period and scored twice to lead 2-0 heading into the third period. The Vikings then tacked on another goal early in the third.
  Lawrence got on the board in the second when
Sofia Alvarez took a pass from
Elsie Salerno and snapped off a wrist shot from the high slot to give the Vikings a 1-0 edge at the 4:57 mark.Â
  The Vikings doubled that lead less than three minutes later when
Lauren Askenazy scored off a pass from
Kristen Spang at the 7:35 mark for a 2-0 edge.Â
  Lawrence made it 3-0 when the Vikings cashed in on the power play early in the third period. After Northland's Taylor Richmond got sent off for slashing at the 4:52 mark of the third, the Vikings quickly capitalized.Â

Elsie Salerno scored on the ensuing power play off assists from
Beth McArthur and
Valeria Ansoleaga at the 5:15 mark for a 3-0 edge. Lawrence went 1-for-6 on the power play.
  Northland cut the lead to 3-1 on a power-play goal at the 6:41 mark of the third, but that's as close as the Lumberjills would get. Northland went 1-for-4 on the power play.

Sydney Seeley got the win for Lawrence and finished with 18 saves. Corrin Hanson made 25 saves for Northland. Lawrence had a 28-19 advantage in shots.
