APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team got off to a slow start Friday and lost 3-0 to Ripon College in a Midwest Conference match at Alexander Gymnasium.
  The Red Hawks defeated Lawrence 25-9, 26-24, 25-16 in the season finale for the Vikings.
  Ripon jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the opening set and cruised to a 1-0 lead. In the second set, Lawrence battled back and built a 17-11 lead on a wild play that featured a great dig from
Daphne Piotrowski. The officials then conferred and awarded the point to Ripon and that swung the momentum. Ripon scored eight of the next nine points to grab the lead. Lawrence tied the set at 24-24 before Ripon scored the final two points to pull out the set victory. The Red Hawks then grabbed a 10-5 lead in the third set and Lawrence never got closer than five points the rest of the way.

Aliana Butler-Gray paced Lawrence with eight kills and picked up a block and a pair of digs.
Mikala Seymour added four kills, and
Cora Linos also had four kills. Linos also had 10 assists and eight digs.Â
  Piotrowski paced the Vikings with 13 digs, and
Bailey Nez picked up eight digs to go with two kills.
Natalee Kragie added two kills, two blocks and a dig.
  Lawrence finishes the season with a 5-22 mark, including a 2-6 record in league play.
