JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The Lawrence University basketball team endured frigid shooting Saturday and dropped a 53-35 Midwest Conference decision to No. 25 Illinois College at Sherman Gymnasium.
The poor shooting overshadowed a fine defensive effort from the Vikings. Against the most explosive and experienced team in the league, Lawrence held unbeaten Illinois College (9-0, 4-0 MWMC) to 10 points fewer than they had scored in a game this season. The Blueboys were limited to 33.9 percent shooting from the floor and connected on just 17.4 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc.Â
Lawrence (0-9, 0-4) simply couldn't make anything in the first half as the Vikings were held to eight points and went 2-for-25 from the floor. Lawrence warmed up a bit in the second half and shot 37.9 percent from the floor in the second half. The Vikings were just 1-for-17 from beyond the arc in the game.
 Â
Jake Fisher led Lawrence with nine points, and
Casey Schoenecker added seven points and five rebounds.
Matthew Kaznikov chipped in with six points, and a team-high six rebounds.
Josh Harris led the Blueboys with 17 points, and Nestor Daboin pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.
