Lawrence edged at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to Trine University on Saturday in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Thunder Ice Arena.
Trine pulled out the win despite superb goaltending from Lawrence's Brian Tallieu. The senior goalie made multiple spectacular saves, stopped 41 shots and allowed a pair of goals.
The Thunder scored its first two goals in the opening period. Bobby Price broke through for Trine at the 11:50 mark and Garrett Hallford added a short-handed goal at 15:25.
Lawrence (4-19-2, 3-14-1 NCHA) sliced the lead in half early in the second period. Jordan Cooper took a pass from Ryan Williams and beat Trine goalie Kyle Kozma at the 4:41 mark to cut the lead to 2-1.
Both teams had power-play chances in the final period but neither side could cash in. Both teams went 0-for-5 on the power play in the game.
The Vikings pulled Tallieu for an extra attacker late in the game, but Trine's Thad Marcola got an empty-net goal to seal the victory with 1:42 remaining.
Kozma finished with 20 saves to pick up the win for Trine (17-71, 12-6-0).
