DAVENPORT, Fla. -- The Lawrence University baseball team lost a nonconference doubleheader to Bowdoin College on Tuesday.Â
The Vikings dropped the opener 15-8 and were edged 6-5 in the second game.
In the first game, Lawrence collected 12 hits but Bowdoin scored 10 runs in the second inning to take command.
 Â
Parker Knoll went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a run batted in for the Vikings.
Edan Perez also went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two driven in for Lawrence (4-6).
Taylor Freeman also drove in a pair of runs for the Vikings.
Bowdoin had seven of its 17 hits, including a pair of two-run homers, in the second inning and also benefited from three hit batters.
 Â
Brandon Brust made the start for the Vikings and allowed eight runs on five hits over 1.1 innings to take the loss. Jack Mullen was tagged for seven runs on 11 hits for Bowdoin but got the win.
In the nightcap, all of the runs were scored in the first two innings.Â
 Â
Zach Leslie went 3-for-4 with a double, and
Luke Miles also doubled for the Vikings.Â
Connor Robertson struggled with his command as he allowed six runs on just two hits over the first 1.2 innings. He struck out three but walked five and hit four batters.
Cam Ruth was outstanding in relief for the Vikings as he allowed no runs and just two hits over the final 4.1 innings. He struck out four and didn't walk a batter.
Lawrence trailed 4-1 after the first but scored four times in a strange top of the second.
Jacob Charon was at third with one out when
Mitchell Sandleback walked and Miles was hit by a pitch to load the bases. With two outs, Knoll hit a fly ball to deep right, but the ball was dropped and four runs scored on the play. With everyone running at the crack of the bat, the first three runs scored easily, but the speedy Knoll also was able to race home to give the Vikings a 5-4 lead.
Bowdoin scored twice in the bottom half of the second on just one hit to take a 6-5 lead. Lawrence left seven runners on base after that, including leaving the bases loaded in the fifth.Â
