Lawrence dominates in shutout win over Muskies

    PLYMOUTH, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's soccer team dominated Sunday en route to a 2-0 nonconference win over Lakeland University at Taylor Field.
    Ava Elders and Kylie Melonis both scored their first collegiate goals, and Audri Klionsky recorded her first collegiate shutout for the Vikings.
    Lawrence (1-1) finally got on the board in the 61st minute when Elders headed in a cross from Kylie Grimes for a 1-0 lead. The Vikings made it 2-0 at the 83:21 mark when Lucia Pierce-Haig sent a cross into the box. Melonis chipped the ball in to seal the victory.
    Klionsky made one save in the first half to pick up the shutout. Lakeland goalkeeper Faith Turley made eight saves. 
    Lawrence had a 21-2 edge in shots for the match, and the Vikings held Lakeland without a shot in the second half.
    Lawrence is now 14-0-0 in the series against Lakeland.
