Vikings settle for scoreless tie against Marian

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's soccer team dominated against Marian University on Thursday but settled for a 0-0 nonconference tie against the Sabres on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Lawrence (1-1-2) posted a 13-5 edge in shots and had three shots carom off the crossbar.
The Vikings nearly scored early in the contest when Natalie Linebarger's shot hit the crossbar and then caromed off the upright before nearly crossing the goal line.
It was more of the same in the second half as Kylie Grimes fired a shot off the crossbar for the Vikings. Late in the match, Hanna Knudsen's shot was just high as it skimmed the top of the crossbar.
Marian goalkeeper Chelsea King finished with five saves. Lawrence goalkeeper Audri Klionsky picked up three saves, but the Sabres didn't generate the type of scoring chances the Vikings did.
