APPLETON, WIs. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team led for nearly three quarters Sunday, but Cornell College came back to post a 52-43 Midwest Conference victory at Alexander Gymnasium.
  Lawrence led by as many as eight points in the first half and in the third quarter, but Cornell finished the game on a 27-11 run.

Mallory Meyer, who had trouble operating inside against Cornell, was one of three Lawrence players to finish with nine points.

Charlotte Brennan had nine points apiece for the Vikings (10-6, 4-3 MWC).Â

Maggie Culver grabbed a team-best six rebounds for the Vikings, and Meyer added five boards.
Nikola Kuzmanovic picked up a game-high three assists for Lawrence.
  Lawrence jumped out to a 10-2 lead to start the game, but the Rams (8-8, 6-1) chipped away at the advantage. Cornell closed to three points on multiple occasions in the second quarter, but Meyer's jumper in the lane gave Lawrence a 23-18 edge at the half.
  The Vikings went up 32-25 after
Karly Beck's jumper with 4:52 left in the third quarter. Cornell then went on an 11-0 run to grab a 36-32 lead. The Vikings cut the margin to 38-35 heading to the fourth quarter.
  Cornell opened the fourth quarter with a layup and 3-pointer to expand the lead to 43-35 before Brennan's driving layup cut the margin to six. The Rams then scored the next eight points to push the lead to 51-37 and seal the victory.
  Lawrence returns to action next Saturday when the Vikings host Monmouth College.
