MONMOUTH, Ill. -- A second-half surge proved to be the difference Wednesday as the Lawrence University men's basketball team dropped a 72-53 Midwest Conference game to Monmouth College at Glennie Gymnasium.
  Monmouth was holding a four-point advantage when the Scots went on a 13-2 run to push their lead to 49-34 with 10:08 remaining. Lawrence never got closer than 10 points after that.
  First-year forward
Casey Schoenecker led the way for the Vikings with 15 points as he went 7-for-10 from the floor. Schoenecker also pulled down seven rebounds and picked up a steal.

Jake Fisher added 10 points for Lawrence (2-12, 0-5 MWC), and
Hogan Demovsky added eight points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal. Lawrence's
Nicholas Gouriotis finished with a game-high eight rebounds to go with five points.
   Turner Plumer led Monmouth (8-5, 2-2) with 15 points.
